KPIs for AI-Strategies

Published on March 9, 2019

Together with the ‘Stiftung Neue Verantwortung’, we have revied indicators for successful national AI strategies and how to monitor them.

With the publication of a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (“Nationale Strategie für Künstliche Intelligenz”), the German Federal Government has taken an important step towards promoting and shaping this key technology. However, there is still a lack of systematic analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the AI location in order to implement the strategy. In addition, policymakers lack the instruments to monitor the further development of the AI location and the impact of political measures.

Together with the ‘Stiftung Neue Verantwortung’, we have therefore worked on the conception of indicators with which important fields of action of the AI strategy could be recorded and AI monitoring could take place. The elaboration focuses on the areas of AI research, training of AI experts, AI in business, society, government and administration, as well as international networking and infrastructure for AIs. With the help of these indicators, the implementation and further development of the AI strategy of the Federal Government are to be successfully steered. With our proposals and ideas, we would like to advance the debate on the development and implementation of AI monitoring.

The presentation can be found attached. Please be aware that the publication is written in German language.
